MINNEAPOLIS -- Junior forward Jordy Murray scored twice, including the game-tying goal late in the third period, as Wisconsin (6-2-2, 3-1-2 WCHA) completed a three-point weekend at Mariucci Arena with a 3-3 tie against Minnesota (5-4-1, 3-4-1 WCHA).

In an intense early-season battle, Minnesota grabbed the lead just 4:18 into the game when Taylor Matson finished a 4-on-1, keeping the puck and then beating UW goalie Brett Bennett.
The Gophers went up 2-0 at 11:41 on the power play. A blocked shot was swatted out of the slot by a Badger defender right to Erik Haula, who backhanded a pass across the goal to an open Jacob Cepis for a tap-in tally.
The Badgers cut the deficit in half on their first power-play of the game late in the first period. Goalie Brett Bennett caught Minnesota changing and found frosh Mark Zengerle (Rochester, N.Y.) at the far blue line. The puck initially got past Zengerle, but he recovered, finding Schultz cutting through the middle. Schultz fired a wrist shot in stride from the high slot at 17:59 for his fourth goal of the season.
Early in the second, again on the power play, Jordy Murray (Faribault, Minn.) evened things up with his seventh of the season. Once again, Zengerle found Schultz in the high slot, who then shot, recovered his own rebound, and hit the post behind Minnesota goalie Kent Patterson. The puck sat behind the goaltender, where Murray pushed it in from his stomach at 3:39.
Minnesota regained the lead with its second power-play goal of the game at 18:47 of the second period. Jay Barriball's point shot beat a screened Bennett for a 3-2 Minnesota lead.
In the third, Minnesota nearly held onto its one-goal lead, but Murray converted for his team-best eighth time this season, poking home the puck between the post and Patterson. Murray's goal, with Zengerle's third assist of the game and sixth point of the weekend, came at 17:06 of the third frame.
In overtime, both teams had golden chances, and both took three shots. Badger Craig Smith was stopped by Patterson and Minnesota's Barriball had a shot deflected wide by junior defenseman Jake Gardiner on the best chances of the extra period.
Both goalies stayed unbeaten with the result, with Bennett stopped 22 shots and moved to 3-0-1, while Patterson made 23 saves to become 4-0-1 on the year.
The final score was tied, shots were 26-25 for the Badgers and both teams went 2-for-4 on the power play on a night where both teams were fit to be tied.
Wisconsin now skates 12 of its next 14 games at the Kohl Center, beginning next weekend when North Dakota visits the Kohl Center. Friday and Saturday's contests begin at 7 p.m.
