MILWAUKEE, Wis. - For the third-straight weekend, the Wisconsin volleyball team walked away with a tournament title. The Badgers claimed the Milwaukee/Marquette Invitational title with a 3-0 record, defeating Toledo 24-26, 25-16, 25-16, 25-15 on Saturday evening. Wisconsin improves to 9-0 on the season, tied for the third-best start in program history.

Sophomore Alexis Mitchell led the Badgers with a career-high 16 kills as Wisconsin finished with 20 more kills than Toledo. Allison Wack and Dominique Thompson both added 11 kills as the UW put down 59 kills. The Badgers also hit .255 while the Rockets hit .106.
Jordan Kielty put down 14 kills for Toledo and was also its top hitter at .244.
Wisconsin struggled in the first set, hitting just .108 and losing by two points. The Badgers improved their hitting each set, including a .324 attack percentage in the fourth set.
Mitchell hit .636, the third time in the last four matches that she has hit better than .600. Janelle Gabrielsen put up 43 assists running the UW offense.
The Badgers had its best serving outing of the season, finishing with 10 aces, including four from Wack and three from Annemarie Hickey.
Wisconsin also outdug the Rockets 59-49 and outblocked Toledo 6-4. Kim Kuzma and Gabrielsen both had 15 digs while Wack added 11 digs. Mitchell had four blocks for the UW while three other players had two stuffs.
The Badgers wrap up their non-conference season this week, traveling to Northern Illinois on Tuesday and hosting Green Bay on Friday. UW coach Pete Waite returns to NIU for the first time since leaving the Huskies 12 years ago. He is Northern Illinois' all-time winningest coach.
