MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women's rowing programs held their annual Class Day Races inside Porter Boathouse on Saturday. High winds moved the class and alumni race indoors.

The event, which pits current UW rowers, broken up by squad and year in school, against each other and returning alumni, normally runs 1000 meters across Lake Mendota. High morning winds turned this year's event into a 1000-meter erg relay.

As has become tradition, the competitors dressed in costumes, with class themes including Michael Jackson, "Your worst nightmare" and the Average Joe's, among others.

In addition to the relay, the women's lightweights dedicated a boat to the first national championship in program history, which took place in 2004. Eileen Storm, a member of the championship boat, did the honors by christening the boat with water from the Lake Mendota finish line.

Both UW rowing programs return to competition on Sunday, Oct. 10 with the Head of the Rock regatta in Rockford, Ill.
