MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women’s rowing program is hosting a skills camp on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 12-4 p.m. at the Porter Boathouse for high school girls interested in learning the fundamentals of rowing.
Girls wanting to learn more about Wisconsin rowing are encouraged to attend and there is no rowing experience necessary to participate in the camp. It’s a great way to get introduced to the fun, team-oriented sport of rowing. Many collegiate rowers have had no previous rowing experience and used their athleticism to earn a spot on a varsity collegiate crew.
At the camp, athletes will learn the basics of rowing from the Wisconsin coaching staff. They will use the rowing machines, moving water rowing tank and handle elite racing shells. Beyond hands-on experience, there will also be a discussion on rowing in college and the NCAA recruiting process. Participants with past rowing experience or who have previously attended one of Wisconsin’s camps will get to further their training with the coaches.
The camp is $35 and participants need to fill out the form linked above. Water will be provided for all participants.
For more information about attending Wisconsin’s rowing camp on Feb. 26, perspective campers should contact coach Megan Cooke Carcagno by phone at 608-263-6422 or e-mail at MC2@athletics.wisc.edu and look online at www.UWBadgers.com/camps.
