MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women's cross country team raced to a 17th-place finish at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational at the Zimmer Championship Course on Saturday.
Badgers freshman Sarah Disanza led the team and finished the 6-kilometer race -- which included 17 nationally-ranked teams and 37 overall -- in 20 minutes, 34 seconds. She placed 42nd overall and was the lone Badgers runner to finish in the top-50.
It was Disanza's first 6K race with UW and she said the experience at such a large and prestigious meet will only benefit her and the team down the road.
"It's definitely a great experience," Disanza said. "Especially seeing some of these same girls that are going to be running at Big Tens, regionals and then nationals."

Arizona (117) and Arkansas (136) ran away with the top two spots while Providence (191) came in third. Michigan State was the top Big Ten team on the day and finished with a team score of 200, which was good for fourth place. Wisconsin finished with a team total of 502 points.
Sophomore Emma-Lisa Murphy continued her run of finishing in the top two for the Badgers with another second-place finish. She finished 61st overall and crossed the finish line in 20:47. She finished first for the Badgers and 10th overall at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown in the team's last meet and has now finished in the top two for the Badgers in every meet this season.
The trio of sophomore Molly Hanson (123rd), senior transfer Erin Cawley (134th) and sophomore Kelly Whitley (142nd) finished within seven seconds of each other and rounded out the scoring for the Badgers. Hanson finished in 21:15 while Cawley (21:20) and Whitley (21:22) were right behind her.
Dartmouth's Abbey D'Agostino set a 6-kilometer course record and finished in 19:31. D'Agostino was battling with Providence's Emily Sisson and Texas's Marielle Hall until about the 4K mark, until D'Agostino broke away from the pack to win the title. Sisson finished second overall with a time of 19:44 while Hall wound up with a time of 19:46 and a third-place finish.
Juniors Rachel McNally and Liga Blyholder rounded out the top seven for the Badgers. McNally ended up with a time of 21:33 while Blyholder finished in 21:35.
Minnesota (303) and Indiana (351) were the two other Big Ten teams besides Michigan State to finish above the Badgers.
"I was definitely very happy," Disanza said. "I was really excited to see how I did and how the team did as well. They ran really strong today."
In the `B' race, Wisconsin finished fourth s with 71 points. Minnesota (28) took first place while BYU placed second with a team score of 57. Junior Theresa Selestow (22:00) and Anne Gregory (22:02) led the Badgers and finished 11th and 13th, respectively.
The Badgers will get back into action in less than a week at the UW-Oshkosh Open in Winneconne, Wis., on Friday, Oct. 25. That race is set to begin at 4 p.m. (CT).
