TEAM NOTES
• With the win, Bo Ryan improved to 292-113 (.721) in 13 seasons at Wisconsin.
• Wisconsin won its season opener for the 12th straight season. The Badgers have won those 12 openers by an average of 28.0 points per game.
• UW is now 119-30 (.799) in non-conference games under Ryan.
• The Badgers’ 86 points were their most since an 87-51 win over Samford on Dec. 29, 2012.
• The Badgers had five players score in double figures for the first time since five players reached double digits against Samford on Dec. 29, 2012.
• UW improved to 4-0 all-time vs. St. John’s.
• Wisconsin shot 46.3 percent from the field. The Badgers have now won 43 of their last 44 games when shooting 45 percent or better from the floor.
• The Badgers went 11-of-23 (.478) from 3-point range, their most 3-pointers since going 12 for 25 at Nebraska on Feb. 26, 2013.
• UW went 25-for-30 at the free throw line, making each of their final 14 attempts. That was Wisconsin’s most attempts and makes since making 28-of-42 at Illinois on Feb. 3, 2013.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• In his first game back since a torn ACL that cost him the entire 2012-13 season, junior Josh Gasser scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed a game-high 8 rebounds in 35 minutes of action. Gasser went 8-for-8 at the free throw line and 3-for-5 from 3-point range.
• Gasser’s 8 made free throws was his most since going 9-for-10 in his first-ever college game, a 85-31 win over Kennesaw State on Nov. 12, 2011.
• Sophomore Sam Dekker finished with 16 points (2-for-3 from 3-point range) and 7 rebounds, including 5 on the offensive glass. The 7 rebounds marked the second-highest total in his career (high is 8). Dekker has now scored in double figures in 10 of his last 13 games dating back to last season.
• Junior Duje Dukan posted career highs in nearly every statistical category, tallying 15 points and 5 rebounds in 21 minutes of action. Dukan connected on 2-of-3 from behind the arc and went 5-for-6 at the free throw line. Entering the game, Dukan had a total of 11 career points and career highs of 4 points, 2 rebounds and 11 minutes.
• Senior Ben Brust posted 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, knocking down three 3-pointers. Dating back to last season, Brust has hit multiple 3-pointers in 17 of his last 18 games.
• Junior Traevon Jackson scored 13 points to go with 3 rebounds, a team-high 4 assists and 2 steals.
• Freshmen Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig saw their first-career action, playing 8 and 1 minutes, respectively. Hayes finished with 2 points.
