WILMETTE, Ill.- The Badgers shot their best score of the tourney but finished in 13th place with a 46-over par 303-306-301--910 at the 54-hole Windy City Collegiate Classic Oct. 6-7 at the Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill.
Southern California defended its 2013 title and led wire-to-wire in the competitive field with a 12-over par 294-287-295--876. The host school, Northwestern, was second at 15-over par, three strokes back.
USC's Annie Park was one of two golfers to break 70 the final day in the 82-person field to win with a 5-under 73-69-69--211. She was three strokes better than Lina Aguilon of Ohio State, who was playing as an individual and finished with 70-71-73--214.
Leading the Badgers for the entire tournament was senior Kimberly Dinh who tied for 27th with a 9-over 71-77-77--225. Senior Aaren Ziegler tied for 41st with a 13-over 76-74-79--229. Sophomore Brooke Ferrell tied for 52nd with a 15-over 76-79-76--231.
Two freshmen are continuing to gain college experience in the starting lineup. Gabby Curtis tied for 58th with a 17-over 80-76-77--233. Playing in her second tournament of her career, Ali Nageotte had her career 18-hole best on the last day with a 1-under 71 to finish tied for 70th with a 22-over 82-85-71--283.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Michelle Cheung finished tied for 41st with a 13-over par 83-69-77--229. Her 3-under par 69 in the second round was her collegiate 18-hole best by five strokes.
The Badgers head to Knoxville, Tenn., Oct. 17-19 for the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate.
