Wisconsin at Rutgers
Nov. 1, 2104
Piscataway, N.J. – High Point Solutions Stadium

TEAM NOTES
•    Today’s captains were seniors Rob Havenstein and Derek Landisch and junior Michael Caputo.
•    With the win, Wisconsin is now bowl-eligible for the 13th-straight season. That is the longest active streak in the Big Ten and the seventh-longest in the country.
•    This is the Badgers’ first shutout on the road since a 31-0 win at Iowa on Oct. 24, 1998. The 37-point win marked UW’s largest margin in a Big Ten road shutout since blanking Northwestern 49-0 on Oct. 1, 1983.
•    Today marked Wisconsin’s fifth road shutout in a Big Ten game in the last 50 years.
•    UW is now allowing a mere 14.1 points per game on the season.
•    Wisconsin has worn red helmets six times over the past two seasons. UW has won all six games by a combined score of 264-62.
•    UW improves to 12-1-1 all-time in its initial games against new Big Ten opponents. In their first games against the three newest members of the Big Ten (Nebraska, Maryland and Rutgers) the Badgers have outscored them 137-24.
•    After not shutting out an opponent in the first half through their first six games, the Badgers have not allowed a point in the opening half in either of the last two games.
•    Wisconsin allowed just 139 yards, its fewest in a Big Ten game since limiting Penn State to 131 on Sept. 22, 2001 in University Park, Pa.
•    UW surrendered just eight first downs, equaling its fewest of the season. The Badgers also gave up eight first downs to USF. The eight first downs were UW’s fewest allowed in a Big Ten game since limiting Purdue to eight on Oct. 31, 2009. The last time UW gave up only eight first downs in a Big Ten road game was Oct. 10, 2009 at Ohio State.
•    The Badgers’ defense allowed 63 yards passing to Rutgers, the team’s fewest surrendered since holding Minnesota to 51 on Nov. 12, 2011 in Minneapolis, Minn.
•    The Badgers recorded 3.0 sacks on the day, giving them 24 for the season. UW had a total of 26 sacks last season.
•    Rutgers converted just 3 of 15 (20.0%) third-down chances, marking the second consecutive week UW has held its opponent to 3 of 15 on third down. On the year, Wisconsin’s opponents are a mere 30-for-112 (26.8%).
•    UW rushed for 298 yards on 46 carries for an average 6.5 yards per carry. The Badgers have run for at least 250 yards in seven of eight games this season.
•    The Badgers forced eight three-and-outs, a week after forcing Maryland into 10 three-and-outs last Saturday.

PLAYER NOTES
•    Junior RB Melvin Gordon has scored a touchdown in every game this season. His 51-yard TD run on the Badgers’ first play of the second half was his sixth run of 50+ yards this season and the 13th of his career. He is now averaging 34.6 yards per carry on his first carry of the second half this season (eight carries for 277 yards).
•    Gordon went over 100 yards (128 yards) on the ground for the sixth-straight game, the seventh time in eight games this season and the 17th time in his career. That ties Billy Marek and Alan Ameche for eighth all-time in UW history.
•    With two TDs today, Gordon now has 36 in his career, good for eighth on UW’s all-time list.
•    Sophomore RB Corey Clement, a native of Glassboro, N.J., ran for 131 yards on 14 carries, scoring two touchdowns. It was Clement’s sixth career 100-yard game and the sixth time Gordon and Clement have rushed for 100+ yards in the same game.
•    Clement scored on a 43-yard run in the second quarter. It was his third run of 40+ yards this season and the fourth of his career. The Badgers entered today leading the country with 13 runs of 40+ yards on the season and added two more today. Clement also ripped off a 36-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
•    Junior S A.J. Jordan blocked a punt in the first quarter, the Badgers’ first blocked punt since Leo Musso blocked one against Penn State on Nov. 30, 2013. It set up Melvin Gordon’s 13-yard touchdown run that opened the scoring.
•    Senior LB Marcus Trotter recorded his first career interception, picking off Rutgers’ Gary Nova in the second quarter. The interception led to freshman K Rafael Gaglianone’s 32-yard field goal.
•    With a career-best three field goals today, Gaglianone is now 10-of-13 (.769) on field goals this season.
•    Sophomore QB Bart Houston recorded a career-high four punts, averaging 35.5 yards per punt.
•    Freshman WR Krenwick Sanders tallied his first career catch, a 10-yard grab in the fourth quarter.
•    Freshman WR George Rushing caught a career-high two passes for a personal-best 32 yards.
•    Senior LB Derek Landisch posted his team-leading fifth sack. He also leads the Badgers with 11.0 tackles for loss on the year.
