MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin avenged a 36-34 home loss to Pittsburgh earlier in the season with a 36-30 victory over the Panthers in the NCAA East Regional title game at the UW Field House.
The Badgers jumped to a 10-5 lead and were in front, 12-9, before Pittsburgh's Eddie Straloski scored six straight points to give the Panthers a 15-12 lead.
Pittsburgh led 18-14 at halftime and built its lead to 23-18 early in the second period.

The Badgers scored the next six points to go up 24-23, getting a basket from Gene Englund and a field goal and two free throws from John Kotz.
They built the lead to 29-25 and eventually extended the margin to 36-26 to win handily.
Wisconsin outscored the Panthers 16-6 from the free throw line, going to the stripe 20 times compared to Pittsburgh;s seven.
Englund was 7-of-8 from the line and finished with 11 points, while Kotz made all four charity tosses and totaled 10 points.
Straloski paced the Panthers with 12 points.
