• UW's top-six finishers finished within two seconds of each other
Emma-Lisa Murphy and Sarah Disanza finished in the top-two for UW for the second-straight race
• The Badgers race again on Oct. 4 at the Greater Lousiville Classic

The Badgers, finishing second with a score of 70 points, came in behind No. 1 Michigan, who scored a near perfect score of 16 points. Northwestern finished third with 87 points, and Kansas State (101 points) and Iowa (113 points) rounded out the top-five.

Prior to the race, Director of Cross Country and Track & Field, Mick Byrne mentioned how he wanted the Badgers to run as a team today, which was something the team accomplished.

“For both teams, this was an opportunity to preview the Big Ten course,” Byrne said. “It was a nice team effort today by the team. For them, it is a learning curve and they’re starting to understand the process.

“Big Ten’s is still six weeks away and there is still lots of work to be done, but I see huge progress.”

The rest of the Badgers were not far behind the top-five. Redshirt freshman Colette Richter made a strong showing with a time of 21:56.1, finishing 17th overall and sixth for Wisconsin. Sarah Heinemann (22:04.6), Liga Blyholder (22:23.9), and Anne Gregory (22:33.0) rounded out the Wisconsin squad, finishing 22nd, 28th, and 32nd overall, respectively.

The Badgers will travel to Louisville, Kentucky on Oct. 4th to compete in the Greater Louisville Classic.
