Badgers return to competition at Intercollegiate at The Grove

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's golf team was able to take a collective breath over the last two weeks after starting the season with three-consecutive tournaments.
Following their short break, the Badgers are back at it, Oct. 25-27, as they will compete in the Intercollegiate at The Grove in College Grove, Tennessee.
Including UW, 12 teams will take part in the 54-hole affair. The competitors include, Abilene Christian, Cincinnati, College of Charleston, Kentucky, Louisiana – Lafayette, Lipscomb, host Middle Tennessee State, Southern Mississippi, Troy, Wisconsin, Western Kentucky and Xavier.
Among the schools, just four are ranked in Golfweek's top 100—No. 29 Kentucky, No. 75 Lipscomb, No. 76 Troy, and No. 96 Louisiana – Lafayette.
The Badgers are coming off a sixth-place performance at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate, which marked their best finish of the year. While UW had a better 54-hole score at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic (874), it placed ninth at that tournament.
In addition to picking up its best placement of the season at Erin Hills Golf Course, Wisconsin tied its best 18-hole score (288) and recorded a new low for 36 holes (584).
Michael Abrahamson, Jordan Hahn and Ben Skogen have led the Badgers this year, with each golfer picking up a top-three finish.
Abrahamson tied for third at the Badger Invitational, recording a 1-over 217 which was just one stroke off his 54-hole career-low.
Hahn, the youngest of the trio, was one spot ahead of Abrahamson at the Badger Invitational, as the freshman placed second. He registered the team's lowest 18-hole score of 2015-16 with a 4-under 68 in Round 2 before ending at a 5-under 211.
Skogen began the campaign with an impressive performance at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic. He placed tied for second and earned new 18- (69), 36- (140) and 54-hole (210) career-lows. Skogen narrowly leads Abrahamson and Hahn for the lowest 18-hole average on the team at 73.11 strokes per round.
The Grove Club features a par-72 Greg Norman Signature golf course that stretches 7,368 yards.
