October 27, 2015 | Men's Golf
Wajda finished fifth with a 1-over 145
• Final 36-hole results
College Grove, Tenn. - The remnants of hurricane Patricia have cancelled the last round of The Grove Intercollegiate hosted by Middle Tennessee State in College Grove, Tenn. The 36-hole regults will stand as the official conclusion of what would have been a 54-hole event.
Eddie Wajda III was the top Badger finishing fifth with a 1-over par 73-72--145. The Badgers (306-298=604) shot a 10-over 298 in the second round-eight shots better than the previous day-to finish eighth.
Badger Coach Michael Burcin said, "It's disappointing we didn't get to play round 3 as we had some guys gain some momentum yesterday and I thought we would move up today." Burcin continued, "Certainly proud of Eddie as I think over the last three weeks he has made a big leap with his game and certain parts of his putting. As a team we are very inconsistent as so many of these young guys play a large role. We need to become more consistent. "
Kentucky (293-288=581) took over the first position from Lipscomb, which led after round 1. The Wildcats recorded an even par 288 to keep them at 5-over.
A nine-stroke gap separates Kentucky from Lipscomb (288-302=590) in second, as the Bison are at a 14-over 590. Host school Middle Tennessee State (294-299=593) rounds out the top three at 17-over.
Behind Wajda, who registered new 18- (72) and 36-hole (145) season-lows, was Ben Skogen (76-75=151) in a tie for 26th. He was one stroke better than Sunday, shooting a 3-over 75.
Michael Abrahamson (79-73=152) was third among the Badgers, as the freshman notched the second-best 18-hole score on the team with a 1-over 73. He is tied for 31st entering Tuesday.
Jordan Hahn and Matt Ross wrapped up Wisconsin's scoring with a 78 and 79, respectively. Hahn is alone in 48th, while Ross tied for 53rd.
