Tucson, Ariz.-- After the second round of the Wildcat Invitational was suspended until Tuesday morning due to darkness, the women's golf team sits at 11th place in the 54-hole, two-day tournament in Tucson, Arizona.
Arizona dominated the first round, scoring an 11-under 277 to become only the second team besides USC (8-under 280) to remain under par. Both teams had two players each receiving first-round accolades with all of them scoring 5-under 67 including Lindsey Weaver and Wanasa Zhou of Arizona, and Kyung Kim and Karen Chung of Southern California.
Wisconsin got off to a slow start, scoring a 15-over 303 in the first round. Kimberly Dinh and Brooke Ferrell, who hold the best season scoring averages, led the team tied for 18th with their first round score of 73.
Competing as an individual in the tournament, Aaren Ziegler scored the next best for UW with a 6-over 78 along with Gabby Curtis.
Michelle Cheung, who scored 36-hole and 54-hole career bests last tournament, tallied a 79.
Aya Johnson recorded her highest score of the season with an 82 to put her 10 over par.
The seconds rounds will resume again tomorrow at 8 a.m. CT and the third round will be a shotgun start at 10 a.m. CT. Live scoring is available at Birdie Fire as well as updates on UWBadgers.com.
