LIVE SCORING
NAPA, Calif.-- After a difficult first round, the Wisconsin women's golf team banded together to score the fifth-best score of round two and move up four spots to place ninth after 36-holes of the 54-hole Silverado Showdown.
Only two Badgers scored a 75 or lower, and none of them did so in the first round-- something that has only happened one other time this season in the Jim West Tournament.
Out of the 15 teams, co-hosts Oregon and Colorado top the leader board earning first and second place respectively on the Par 72, 6,253-yard Silverado Golf Course, which is ranked the 22nd best course in California. Oregon shot a 13-over 589 and Colorado trailed just three strokes behind. Esther Lee of Colorado was today's medalist and was the only one of two individuals to finish below par with a 3-under 141.
Spring-standout Michelle Cheung led the Badgers for the second time this season, finishing 17th with a 77-73--150. Brooke Ferrell, the other sophomore, tallied a 78-75--153 to mark the fourth time this season she's been among the top two Wisconsin finishers.
Along with Ferrell, senior Kimberly Dinh finished tied for 28th with her 9-over 153.
Gabby Curtis was 15 strokes over par, ending the day tied for 62nd with a 159. Aaren Ziegler had an 89-81--170.
The Badgers finish the tournament tomorrow with 18 holes, starting at 9 a.m. CT.
