Boston, Mass.-- The lightweight women are back on the East Coast for the spring season's second racing event. Today concluded the first half of the Boston Round Robin regatta.
The lightweights made a strong case for themselves as they worked their way down the Charles River this morning. The first varsity eight set off at 7:40 a.m. against MIT. Coxswain Brianna Murphy led the crew to a 7:11 finish, a whole 11 seconds quicker than their competition.
The second varsity eight was Wisconsin's second and last race of the day. With Alessandra Ruenger stroking for the Badgers, the crew finished in 7:12, with plenty of time to spare. MIT's boat didn't hit the finish line for another 28 seconds.
Both boats will race in their respective heats as the action picks back up tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. The winner of each heat plus the next fastest time will advance to the grand final. Three crews will compete in the grand final while two crews will race in the petite final.
