MADISON, Wis. --- Wisconsin men's rowing head coach Chris Clark announced the 16 student-athletes that make up 2015-16 recruiting class.
"We're very excited about this incoming class," Clark said. "These guys are to a man aggressive racers and tough athletes. We are looking forward to seeing these athletes combined with the walk-ons from this fall's open houses."
Dylan Adams (6'6, 180 lbs.) -- Christian Brother's Academy/Chesapeake, Va.
"Dylan is the type of athlete we look for: long, lean and possessing excellent leadership skills." -- Chris Clark
Why Wisconsin:Â "Once I stepped foot on campus, I instantly knew Madison was the place for me. It only helped that the University was known for its exceptional academics and spirited student life. Another big part that stuck out to me was the idea of family. Being so far away from home and with Coach Simon and Coach Megan being each others counterparts, I got a real sense that the Men's and Women's teams hold that idea of family. Combining all that with a team focused on excelling, there isn't any other place I'd rather be."
Scott Bouzane (6'3, 185 lbs.) -- Brewster Academy/Setauket, N.Y.
"Scott is an athlete who has been flying under a lot of people's radars. He has tremendous upside."Â -- Chris Clark
Why Wisconsin: "I like Cheese and I like to row. There is not any better school in the world for those two things."
Marcelo Buxton (5'11, 154 lbs.) -- Norcal Crew/Palo Alto, Calif.
"Marcelo came to our camp last summer after winning youth nationals in the lightweight four. He's not big, but he's tough, has an engine, and rows impeccably." -- Chris Clark
Why Wisconsin:Â "University of Wisconsin offers an unmatched balance of athletics and academics, providing a unique experience for rowers."
John Carberry (5'7, 120 lbs.) -- New Trier/Glencoe, Ill.     Â
"John is an excellent coxswain who has worked with many of the athletes on our team. He is smart and aggressive." -- Associate Head Coach Simon Carcagno
Why Wisconsin: "I chose Wisconsin for the world class academics and the tradition of excellence in sports."
Arthur Condor (5'2, 100 lbs.) -- Fordham Prep/Santa Monica, Calif.
"In addition to being a great coxswain, Arthur is a competitive wrestler. He has a great attitude and his athletic background helps bring out the best from the athletes he coxes." -- Simon Carcagno
Why Wisconsin: "I chose Wisconsin because of its great blend of superb athletics and rigorous academics and the wide variety majors that I can pursue. When I visited, the crew team made me part of the family, and that sealed the deal for me."
Liam Conlon (6'8, 185 lbs.) -- Chicago Rowing Foundation/Chicago
"Liam is an athlete we've had our eye on for years. He attended our camp after his freshman year, and we knew right away he was someone we wanted at the Porter Boathouse." -- Simon Carcagno Â
Why Wisconsin: "I chose Wisconsin because of its stellar engineering program, and the competitive, all American rowing team at the school."
Samuel Haack (6'4, 175 lbs.) -- The Kent School/Painted Post, N.Y.
"Sam started rowing as a HS Junior and made the Kent School first eight that spring; this spring he is stroking the first eight. He has all the tools and gets it done in tight races." -- Simon Carcagno
Why Wisconsin:Â "As for why I chose Wisconsin, I grew up in the Midwest and really wanted to get back to the area for the friendly people and the home-like feel. My father is a graduate of Wisconsin and we always used to visit the dairy and terrace when we would drive through. When I found out that Wisconsin had Division 1 rowing, a sport I just got into but knew I wanted to continue, it was a no brainer."
Patrick Hoeppner (6'3, 185 lbs.) -- Walt Whitman HS/Bethesda, Md.
"Patrick is the prototypical late bloomer. He has improved by a tremendous amount in the past year and we expect him to keep it going" -- Chris Clark
Why Wisconsin: "Wisconsin offers me the opportunity to challenge myself and my teammates from both academically and athletically."
Wilson Hoppe (5'7, 115 lbs.) -- Camp Randall RC/Madison, Wis.  Â
"I've watched a lot of Camp Randall practices and Wilson is consistently where he needs to be, ready to go, and getting the most from his athletes." -- Simon Carcagno
Why Wisconsin: "I chose Wisconsin because I've grown up in Madison and have always wanted to go to school here."
Cole Reavill (6'3, 230 lbs.) -- Culver Academy/Culver, Ind.
"Cole is one of the strongest athletes in the incoming class. We are looking forward to harnessing that physicality and seeing how far he can go." -- Simon Carcagno
Why Wisconsin: "I chose Wisconsin because of the combination of Academics and Athletics. There weren't many schools that offered the majors I was interested in, as well as a nationally competitive rowing program. When I started to receive info packets and recruiting letters, Wisconsin was immediately my favorite."
Kyle McCarthy (6'7, 170 lbs.) -- St Ignatius Cleveland/North Royalton, Ohio
"Kyle is an athlete who improved tremendously in the past year and has a tremendous upside as he fills out. He is just this spring starting to realize some of his potential and we are excited to work with him this fall." -- Chris Clark

Austin Moore (6'1, 175 lbs.) -- Newport Acquatic Center/Yorba Linda, Calif.
"Austin is an extremely tough athlete who has been well coached by Nick D'Antoni at Newport. Toughness and grit are hallmarks of Wisconsin rowing and we expect Austin to fit right in." -- Simon Carcagno
Why Wisconsin: "I chose to go to Wisconsin because I knew I would be getting a great education and had the opportunity to row. On top of that, the tradition and pride that the students and alumni have is remarkable. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else."
James Pratt (6'3, 180 lbs.) -- The Lawrenceville School/Woodbury, Conn.
"James has been holding down the seven seat in a fast Lawrenceville eight all spring. He's very physical and very tough." -- Chris Clark
Mitchell Rogers (6'3, 225 lbs.) -- Whitefish Bay, Wis.
"Mitch is a great athlete -- he is the captain of his high school football and basketball teams. At our summer camp, Mitch impressed with his athleticism and eagerness to learn a new sport." -- Simon Carcagno
Why Wisconsin: "I chose Wisconsin because I figured trying to join the crew team would be a serious challenge and out of my comfort zone. I enjoy trying new things and saw this to be a great opportunity "to try something new while attending the school I've rooted for my entire life.
Jonathan Thickens (6'4, 175 lbs.) -- Duluth, Minn.
"Jonathan is primarily an alpine skier, but has the size and work ethic to have an impact on our team." -- Simon Carcagno
Benjamin Waller (6'3, 195 lbs.)Â Â Â Saugatuck/Westport, Conn.
"Ben is a big strong athlete with a lot of room for growth. He has made some big gains this year and we expect him to keep on getting better." -- Chris Clark
