MADISON, Wis. -- The Sept. 16 edition of 'Varsity' Magazine is out featuring the remarkable rise of Joe Schobert. Stop us if you've heard this before: in-state player flies under the radar during high school recruiting, walks on at Wisconsin and excels. Schobert is the latest in a long line of success stories.
Last Saturday Tanner McEvoy became the first Badger since 2003 to record a reception and interception in the same game. The last UW player to do so? Brandon Williams. Mike Lucas talked to both B-Will and McEvoy about their versatility and the challenge of playing both ways.

The 'Varsity' Magazine mobile app is free and available for download on iPhones, iPads or any Android devices. If you don't have access to a mobile device, a web-friendly version of the magazine can be found here.
The mobile app has been downloaded more than 20,000 times. It features enhancements like embedded video, social media streams for the different Badgers teams, top-notch photography and interactive elements like scrolling text and swipeable photo galleries.
Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez likes what he has seen from the Badgers in the first two weeks of the season but thinks it's too soon to form a complete opinion, both about UW and the national scene. As a member of the College Football Playoff Committee, he always has his eyes on what's happening around the country.
"The Voice of the Badgers" Matt Lepay was impressed with the UW Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday night, a departure from tradition. In talking to many of the honorees, Lepay couldn't help but notice how struck they all were with the constant facilities upgrades on campus. That should help Wisconsin produce more Hall of Famers in the future.
