Siblings Tessa and Jack Cichy have followed a similar path to success

MADISON, Wis. — The Jan. 20 edition of Varsity Magazine is available, featuring an in-depth profile of Tessa and Jack Cichy as well as a preview of the "rivalry weekend" on tap for both the men's and women's hockey teams.

The Cichy siblings have followed a similar path to success. Both started as walk-ons and have developed into key members of their respective teams. UWBadgers.com Senior Writer Mike Lucas spoke with both Tessa, a senior on the women's basketball team, and Jack, a sophomore on the football team whose incredible second half in the Holiday Bowl earned him Defensive MVP honors, about their relationship, the pride of having a sibling playing at such a high level on the same campus and how they support each other. Read it HERE.

With the stunning upset of Michigan State on Sunday, the men's basketball looks to have taken some steps forward following a number of close losses. There is a renewed emphasis on the little things that have long been a part of the winning tradition for the Badgers. The lone senior on the roster, former walk-on Jordan Smith, has taken some responsibility in teaching the younger Badgers "The Wisconsin Way."

"If you can't get up for the Minnesota games there's no reason to be a hockey player." That pretty much sums up the upcoming weekend on the ice in Madison. UWBadgers.com Insider Andy Baggot explores the long-standing Badger-Gopher rivalry on the men's side and the ever-emerging UW-North Dakota rivalry on the women's side. After ending the Badgers' season-opening 18-game winning streak in December, the Fighting Hawks come to Madison looking to break UW's 16-game home winning streak.

In his weekly column, "The Voice of the Badgers" Matt Lepay says the UW men's basketball team is in good hands with interim head coach Greg Gard. Read it HERE.

The 'Varsity' Magazine mobile app is free and available for download on iPhones, iPads or any Android devices. If you don't have access to a mobile device, a web-friendly version of the magazine can be found HERE.

The mobile app has been downloaded more than 25,000 times. It features enhancements like embedded video, social media streams for the different Badgers teams, top-notch photography and interactive elements like scrolling text and swipeable photo galleries.
