MADISON, Wis. -- The Badgers men's track and field team wrapped up its preparation for the Big Ten Conference Indoor Championship by hosting the Red and White Open on Friday afternoon in the Shell. Wisconsin won five events squaring off against Northern Iowa, UW-La Crosse, Marquette and UW-Whitewater.

Austin Mudd had an impressive finish in the mile, capturing first place and crossing the line in 4 minutes, 4.28 seconds. Junior
McKena Ramos finished second in 4:12.61.

Ryan Davis and sophomore
Corbin Ellis captured the top-two spots of the 400 meters. Davis ran to a first-place finish in 48.58 while Ellis finished second in 48.82 – just .19 off his personal best.
Another one-two finish came in the pole vault where sophomore Jake Wallenfang finished first with a clearance of 16 feet,1 ¾ inches and sophomore
Tim Guthrie was second with a vault of 15-9 ¾.
Riley Budde had a great day for the Badgers in the throws. The sophomore threw to a first place finish and personal best in the shot put with a heave of 60-11 ¼. Budde also competed in the weight throw where he would take second to former Badger and national champion
Michael Lihrman. Lihrman won the event with a toss of 77-8 while Budde took second with a throw of 65-6.
Another highlight of the day was the 60-meter hurdles where multi-event start
Zach Ziemek took second with a personal best time of 8.10. Freshman Darius Ragland wasn't far off that mark finishing third with a time of 8.15.

Cooper Barth continued his strong indoor season, claiming a win in the 800 meters in 1:55.06.

Zac Webster finished second in the triple jump with a personal best, marking of 47-1 ¾.
The Badgers next travel to Geneva, Ohio, where they will compete in the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Friday-Saturday at the SPIRE Institute
