ATHENS, Georgia -- After two days of intense competition at the Bulldog Heptathlon, Wisconsin women's track and field junior Georgia Ellenwood ultimately came away with a third-place finish while matching the school record in the event.
 
Ellenwood, a Langley, British Columbia, native, collected 5,914 points, which matches the Wisconsin school record set by Deanna Latham at the 2015 Big Ten Conference Outdoor Championships. In addition, Ellenwood's mark ranks fourth in the country this season.
 
The competition touted many of the country's elite athletes and with her performance, Ellenwood established herself as one of them.
 
The British Columbia native was only 125 points behind first-place finisher and former Georgia standout Quintunya Chapman, whose point total of 6,039 currently ranks third in the world. Georgia's Kendell Williams took second with 5,957 points, which checks in third nationally.
 
En route to her incredible finish, Ellenwood set two new personal records on the second day by leaping 19 feet, 11 3/4 inches in the long jump and recording a throw of 137-10 in the javelin. Her long jump mark ranks eighth in program history.
 
The junior also clocked in at 2 minutes, 20.16 seconds in the 800 meters.
 
Redshirt sophomore Casie Pawlik had quite a competition herself as she set three new personal records throughout the meet, including a huge new record in the long jump on the second day. Pawlik leaped 19-2 3/4, topping her previous best by well over a foot.
 
The Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, native also received marks of 59-4 in the javelin and 2:44.21 in the 800 meters to take seventh with 4,386 points.
 
The Badgers continue competition in Athens, Georgia, this weekend as athletes compete in the Spec Towns Invitational. Action on Friday starts at 1 p.m. with the men's discus.
