WHITEWATER, Wis. -- As the majority of the Wisconsin men's track team took to the Drake Relay's in Iowa this past weekend, sophomore
Riley Budde shined Sunday at the UW-Whitewater Drake Relays Alternative Meet.
Budde dominated the throws as he has the majority of the season as the sophomore captured victories in the shot put, discus and hammer throw while setting personal-bests in the discus and hammer.
Budde set a career best in the discus with a massive toss of 184 feet, beating his previous best by almost two feet. The throw ranks fifth in the Big Ten and sixth in program history.
Notching another mark in the shot put that lands him fifth in the Big Ten, Budde captured a victory with a throw of 60-10 1/2 and another victory. The Beaver Dam native ranks sixth in school history in the shot put and became the sixth Badger to throw over 60 feet in the event.
Budde wrapped up the day with another win and personal best in the hammer throw. The redshirt sophomore landed a mark of 205-7, four and half feet better than his previous best. His throw stands 11th in the Big Ten.
Also in the throws,
Coleman Nelson took third in the discus with a toss of 158-9.
Zac Webster also had a great outing for the Badgers as he set a new personal best in the triple jump. The redshirt-freshman landed a leap of 46-7 1/2.
In the sprints, freshman
Dairius Ragland and
Serge Trezy competed in the prelims of the 110 hurdles and the 100 meters. Ragland won the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles in 14.83. Trezy finished 11th in the 100 meters with a time of 11.19.
