Abrahamson to compete in U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Tournament

MADISON, Wis. –Michael Abrahamson, a junior on the Wisconsin men's golf team, and his partner will compete May 21-25 in the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Tournament being held at the legendary Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York.
Abrahamson and his partner, Danny Young, qualified for the national tournament last fall at the Legends of Brandybrook in Wales, Wisconsin, on Sept. 30. The duo shot a bogey-free 7-under par 64 in the two-man best ball to win by four strokes. Abrahamson is from Chicago, Illinois, and his partner is from Winnetka, Illinois, and a member of the Merit Club located in Gurnee, Illinois.
This is the second U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship held and the 12th USGA championship to take place at Winged Foot. The tournament replaces the former U.S. Public Links Tournament sponsored by the USGA.
Abrahamson is coming off his second season of collegiate golf, having played 30 of 31 rounds and averaged 76.30 strokes per round, which ranked third on the UW team. At the Badger Invitational, Abrahamson played as an individual and recorded his best tournament finish, shooting a 1-over 71-70-76--217 to tie for third. Abrahamson netted his best three-round score at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate where he established career lows for 18-, 36- and 54-holes, scoring an even par 69-72-75--216 to lead the Badgers and tie for 14th.
Initial qualifiers for the championship include 128 sides (256 players). The championship schedule includes 36-holes of four-ball stroke play May 21-22 to determine 32 sides for the match play portion of the tournament. The first round of match play is May 23, followed by the second round and quarterfinals on May 24. The championship semifinals and finals are May 25. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship will be televised on FS1.
