MINNEAPOLIS -- The Wisconsin women's golf team surged four spots with a stellar final round to claim fourth place at the 11-team Minnesota Invitational. The Badgers shot the third-lowest round of the day to end the tournament at 28-over (306-293-293=892).
"I'm really proud of how we played today and how we competed the way we did," UW head coach
Todd Oehrlein said. "I thought after a so-so first round yesterday, the composure and maturity they showed in how they played in the afternoon was a really positive sign. I think they came out with that same mindset today of just competing throughout the whole round."
Finishing eighth, senior
Brooke Ferrell (73-70-76=219) was the Badgers' top golfer of the tournament. The Big Ten preseason honoree netted a 3-over 219 and was just four strokes off the lead.

Freshman
Eloise Healey (79-85-80=244), who competed as an individual, finished in 58th place with a 28-over 244.
At 18-over, Furman (299-297-286=882) and Purdue (293-298-291=882) shared the tournament crown. Third-place Texas (296-294-301) finished just one stroke ahead of the Badgers.
Up next, the Badgers travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to compete in the East-West Match Play Challenge from Sunday to Tuesday.
"When you get into competition and you get to see the reward of the things you've been working on, other areas of your game get exposed and it helps shape plans for improvement and development going forward," Oehrlein said. "We'll try to build on the things that we did really well and we'll address the shortcomings or the areas where we stumbled."
