Hahn tied for seventh place after shooting even par 72
College Grove, Tenn. -- The Wisconsin men's golf team sits in a tie for seventh place after the first round of the FAMC Intercollegiate at The Grove Golf Course in College Grove, Tennessee.
Â
After finishing 7-over, the Badgers are just two strokes off sixth-place Memphis and seven strokes off leader Cincinnati in the 14-team field.
Â
"There was a lot to build on," UW head coach Michael Burcin said. "Eddie [Wajda], Ben [Skogen] and Jordan [Hahn] played real solid and this golf course isn't easy. We got off to a pretty good start but we didn't finish real well. We're very encouraged and in this field to be where we are, we're in a good spot."
Â
Sophomore Jordan Hahn is tied for seventh place after shooting an even par 72 to lead the Badgers. At 1-over, junior Eddie Wajda and senior Ben Skogen are both tied for 16th place. Freshman Nick Robinson and junior Johnny Decker both finished at 5-over to tie for 64th place.
Â
Competing as an individual, freshman Pete Kuhl is in a tie for 43rd place thanks to shooting at 3-over 75.
Â
"I thought we hit the golf ball really well," Burcin said. "There was a lot of trouble out there today if you hit it in some bad spots. I have to say it's probably the best ball-striking team I've had since I've been at Wisconsin which is a good thing especially at a course like this."
Â
The second round of the FAMC Intercollegiate at The Grove tees off on Monday at 8 a.m. Live scoring can be found at GolfStat.com.
