MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's soccer team (7-3-3 overall, 3-2-1 Big Ten) has a nice break before facing No. 1 Indiana (12-0-2, 4-0-2) on the road at Jerry Yeagley Field in Bloomington, Indiana at 6:30 p.m. (CT). Saturday's game will be streamed live on BTN Plus and live statistics can be found on UWBadgers.com. In addition, fans can follow live updates on Twitter (@BadgerMSoccer).
1. A LOOK BACK: In a night celebrating one of Wisconsin's most impressive classes to date, perennial powerhouse Maryland was too much for the Badgers on Friday night at the McClimon Complex. Wisconsin suffered a 5-4 loss to the No. 3 Terrapins, marking the end of the Badger's impressive 20-game unbeaten streak at home. In what was easily the Badgers' most thrilling game of the season, seniors Mark Segbers, Tom Barlow, Chris Mueller and redshirt junior Nikola Atlija all found the back of the net.
2. TRASK TREKS BACK: Head coach John Trask was a four-year letterwinner for the Hoosiers from 1984-1987. He also served as an assistant coach to legendary IU coach Jerry Yeagley for seven seasons before replacing his son Todd Yeagley at UW after Yeagley left in 2010 to become Indiana's head coach. A Hoosier midfielder, Trask was part of the 1984 Finals team. The 1984 season was part of an impressive streak which started in 1983 that saw the Hoosiers set an NCAA record by going unbeaten in 46 consecutive games.
3. RED HOT HOOSIERS: The No.1 Indiana Hoosiers are unscathed this season with a 12-0-2 record and 4-0-2 conference mark. IU tied with then-No. 18 Michigan, 1-1, on Sept. 13 and 0-0 with No. 2 Maryland on Sept. 8. Otherwise, the Hoosiers have been dominant taking down No. 7 Notre Dame 1-0, No. 19 Kentucky 2-0 and No. 17 Ohio State 2-0. Before taking on UW, the Hoosiers will travel to No. 16 Butler on Wednesday for a midweek matchup. Indiana is on an eight-game winning streak and is 8-0-1 at Jerry Yeagley Field this season. The Hoosiers are led by freshman forward Mason Toye, who has eight goals, one assist and 17 points. IU is also steered by Andrew Gutman (5 goals, 2 assists, 12 points) and Cory Thomas (4 goals, 3 assists, 11 points).
4. SENIOR SENDOFF: Three seniors, Tom Barlow, Chris Mueller and Mark Segbers, scored in Friday's contest against Maryland, marking the 13th-straight game that at least one senior scored in a match. Four seniors lead the Badgers in points, with Mueller at the top with 25 points off of seven goals and 11 assists. Barlow ranks second with six goals, four assists and 16 points, while Segbers ranks third with three goals, six assists and 12 points. Mike Catalano rounds out the four with five goals and 10 points.
5. WE'VE GOT HISTORY: UW trails the all-time series with Indiana, 5-35-8 and has only won once in Bloomington in 1993 (1-0). The Badgers tied the Hoosiers in both meetings last season but defeated Indiana, 4-3, in penalty kicks to advance to the championship of the Big Ten Tournament. Tom Barlow, Chris Mueller, Matej Radonic and Philipp Schilling clinched the penalty kicks to send Wisconsin to its first Big Ten Tournament championship for the first time in more than 20 years.
