MADISON, Wis. – After a successful four-game homestand, the No. 1 Wisconsin women's hockey team hits the road to New York to take on Syracuse in a non-conference clash. Puck drop on Friday is set for 3 p.m. CT while the series finale at the Tennity Ice Pavilion will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

1. A LOOK BACK: The Badgers rolled past Mercyhurst in a series sweep last weekend at LaBahn Arena. Freshman Brette Pettet recorded her first collegiate hat trick, becoming the 29th Badger in history to accomplish the feat. Sophomores Alexis Mauermann and Abby Roque each tallied three assists in the series, and Mauermann notched her second goal of the season in the series finale. Wisconsin outshot the Lakers 67-51 over the weekend, and sophomore goaltender Kristen Campbell recorded a combined 50 saves in the net.
2. BADGERS VS. THE CHA: After the sweep of Mercyhurst last weekend, Wisconsin improves to 32-1 all-time against the College Hockey America (CHA) conference. The Badgers will look to make it 34-1 this weekend against Syracuse, the league runner-up behind Robert Morris a year ago. .
3. ORANGE OUTLOOK: This weekend's series marks just the third and fourth meetings between the Badgers and the Orange. Wisconsin leads the all-time series with Syracuse 2-0-0 as the Badgers swept a series at the Kohl Center during the 2008-09 campaign. Last season, Syracuse held a 16-13-5 overall record and a 14-4-2 record in CHA action. The Orange opened its season last weekend in a two-game series against Bemidji State as the two teams drew 0-0 in a battle Friday night before the Beavers blanked the Orange 5-0 on Saturday.
Syracuse returns both its leading scorer in senior Stephanie Grossi and its starting goaltender in senior Abbey Miller. Grossi led the offense with 14 goals, 16 assists and 30 points for the Orange. Miller recorded 575 saves and a .923 save percentage in 1828 minutes in the net for Syracuse.
4. BACK ON TOP: The Badgers moved up to No. 1 in the latest USCHO.com poll on Monday. The Badgers sit atop the rankings with 145 points and 10 of 15 first-place votes. Previously first-ranked Clarkson moved to the No. 2 spot after drawing Northeastern 1-1 last Friday before defeating the Huskies 5-1 Saturday. Wisconsin also took over the No. 1 spot in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll with 186 points and 15 first-place votes.Â
5. PRAISE PETTET Pettet was named the WCHA Rookie of the Week following the forward's stellar performance in the Mercyhurst series finale where she netted three goals to collect her first career hat trick. Pettet is also the first college hockey player in the NCAA to record a hat trick this year. The freshman, along with Ohio State freshman Tatum Skaggs, currently leads the NCAA in goals scored this season.
