Badgers offer 12 camps in June and July
MADISON, Wis. - Now is the time to sign up your daughter or son for the 2017 Wisconsin Volleyball summer camps. The Badgers will hold 12 camps during June and July for volleyball players entering the sixth through 12th grades this fall, as well as half-day camps for youth ages five through the fifth grade. Camp registration is currently open at UWCamps.com/Volleyball.
All campers attending multi-day camps will receive a free camp t-shirt and free camp volleyball as well as a ticket to the 2017 UW volleyball camper appreciation home match. Campers attending the One-Day camps and Team One-Day camp will receive a free camp t-shirt as well as a free ticket to the camper appreciation home match.
Train like the Badgers
Girls entering the eighth through 12th grades may attend either Badger I or Badger II Camp to get the "Badger" experience. Training throughout the camp will be similar to how the Badger volleyball team trains, with individual skill development and competition. Badger I Camp will be held July 6-8 and Badger II camp will be held July 10-12. Cost of either camp is $395 for residents and $345 for commuters.
Position Camps and Serving Camps available on two separate days
For the third straight year, one-day camps for setters, hitters and liberos will be held on two separate days. Athletes may participate in special position camps on July 17 or July 18. Setters will be taught basic and advanced setting skills. Attackers will learn both beginner and advanced hitting techniques in addition to being introduced to position-specific training for outside, middle or right-side attacking. Liberos will hone passing and defensive techniques. Cost of any position camp is $115.
New for 2017 The Badgers will offer two separate serving camps. During these one session camps, training will include the breakdown of the techniques of elite level serving, including individual skills and strategies. The two serving camps will occur directly after the individual positions camps on July 17 and July 18. Cost of the serving camps are $55.
Camps for Middle Schoolers and Little Badgers
A middle-school day camp for girls entering the sixth through eighth grades will be held July 10-12. This day camp will focus on all fundamental volleyball skills including hitting, setting, defense, serving and passing. Cost of the camp is $275.
The Badger program will offer a total of three half-day youth camps for boys and girls ages five to fifth grade. These "Little Badgers" camps will be held June 1-2 and on June 3-4. These "Little Badgers" youth camps will introduce campers to the sport of volleyball while teaching new skills in a fun environment.
There will be two beginner level "Little Badgers" camps, one on June 1-2 in the evenings, and one on June 3-4 in the mornings. An advanced "Little Badgers" camp, for individuals that have played organized volleyball, will be offered from June 3-4 in the afternoon. The cost of each camp is $100 each.
Team Camps available
Girls' junior varsity and varsity high school teams looking to take their team to the next level can participate in the Overnight Team Camp July 14-16, while teams looking specifically to take on other varsity and junior varsity teams can attend the Girls Team One-Day Camp on July 16.
The Overnight Team Camp from July 14-16 will address each team's specific needs and work to improve its competition level over the course of three days. Cost of the overnight camp is $375 per player for residents and $325 for commuters.
The Team One-Day Camp is designed for teams looking to raise their competition level by training against other varsity and junior varsity teams focusing on team competition.
