Wisconsin places 115 on spring and at-large Academic All-Big Ten team

Conference recognizes letterwinners with at least a 3.0 GPA
MADISON, Wis. – One hundred and fifteen student-athletes from the University of Wisconsin were named to the spring and at-large Academic All-Big Ten teams, the Big Ten Conference office announced on Wednesday.
Leading the way for the 11 spring sports was women's rowing and men's track and field, which both had 24 honorees. Women's lightweight rowing had 14 honorees while women's track and field had 12 and softball had 10. Men's rowing had eight honorees, while, women's golf and women's hockey each boasted seven honorees. Men's golf (3), men's tennis (3) and women's tennis (3) rounded out the spring and at-large honor teams.
Several All-Big Ten honorees also earned academic recognition including men's tennis player Josef Dodridge, women's golfer Brooke Ferrell, women's rowers Maddie Wanamaker and Maria Schmid, softball players Chloe Miller and Kelsey Jenkins, men's track and field's Malachy Schrobilgen and Morgan McDonald and women's track and field's Taylor Amann and Georgia Ellenwood.
Also included on the list was the winner of the renowned Patty Kazmaier Award, women's hockey player and All-American Ann-Renee Desbiens. She was joined on the team by her two teammates and fellow All-Americans, Annie Pankowski and Jenny Ryan.
From men's track and field, Olin Hacker and Isaac Hale were both recognized for their perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Both of Wisconsin's Big Ten postgraduate scholarship recipient earned academic honors as men's rowing senior Alex Idarraga and softball senior Sara Novak were both recognized for their work in the classroom. Both plan to continue their education in graduate school and were awarded a $7,500 scholarship, based on their previous academic achievements.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
