Four Badgers to compete at USA championships this weekend

Coulibaly joins three former UW standouts at national championships
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's track and field freshman Rashid Coulibaly will join three former Badgers this weekend at the 2017 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, California.
An honorable mention All-American at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Coulibaly will compete in the pole vault at the junior championships on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. CT at Hornet Stadium. The freshman enters the meet with a season-best clearance of 17 feet, 6 1/2 inches after jumping the height at the NCAA West Preliminary Round. The Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, native holds the freshman school record in the pole vault and ranks third in program history among all vaulters.
A trio of UW Olympians – Kelsey Card, Evan Jager and Zach Ziemek – will compete in the senior meet as the group looks to qualify for the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London in August.
Zach Ziemek, who finished seventh at the 2016 Rio Olympics in the decathlon, will compete in the event at this year's U.S. championships. "Double Z" enters the meet with the highest seed thanks to a score of of 8,413 points at last year's U.S. Olympic Trials. The decathlon begins on Thursday at 1:45 p.m. and 2:55 p.m. on Friday.
Kelsey Card, the United States' top finisher in the discus at the 2016 Summer Olympics, will throw the discus at 7:50 p.m. on Thursday. The Big Ten record holder in the discus and shot put, Card will also throw the shot at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Jager, the silver medalist in the steeplechase at the 2016 Rio Olympics, eyes his sixth national title in the event after winning titles in 2013 and 2015. The first American to medal at the Olympics in the steeplechase since 1984, Jager will race in the prelims on Friday at 7:45 p.m. while the finals are set for Sunday at 4:16 p.m.
The U.S. Outdoor Championships will be broadcast live on NBCSN on Friday (9:30pm-11:30 pm), and on NBC on Saturday (3-5 pm) and Sunday (3-5 pm).
