BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Junior transfer Liz Bohn led the No. 14 Wisconsin women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish on Friday at the Illinois State Invitational at the Weibring Golf Course.
Bohn, a West Bend, Wisconsin, native, finished the 5K race in 18 minutes, 18 seconds, in her first race for the Cardinal and White. Prior to coming to UW, she spent the last two years at the University of South Dakota, helping the Coyotes win the Summit League title last fall.
Freshman Katie Hietpas finished 26th in 18:32.5 in her first collegiate cross country race while junior Rachel Fleddermann was 29th in 18:36.7.
Rounding out the scoring for UW was juniors Lianna Mack and Elli Daniels, who placed 45th and 46th, respectively.
After opening the season on the road with a pair of meets, UW returns home to the Zimmer Championship Course for the 2017 Wisconsin Mayflower Day Open on Sept. 16. The meet starts at 11 a.m. (CT)Â and admission is free.
