MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's basketball team (1-0) hits the road to Milwaukee for their second game of the season to face in-state rival Milwaukee Panthers on Tuesday. Tip time is 7 p.m. from the Klotsche Center. UW looks to build on their season opener team win on Thursday.
- OPENÂ ROAD: Wisconsin leads the all-time series with Milwaukee 24-3 though UWM has won the last two meetings, including a 67-64 victory in Madison on Dec. 14, 2017.
- BADGER TIES: The Badgers and Panthers have numerous connections including UWM's head coach. Kyle (Black) Rechlicz was a four-year letterwinner at Wisconsin from 1998-2002, making 191 3-point baskets for her career, which ranks fifth on the UW record list. Panther assistant coach Anya Covington was also a four-year Badger letterwinner from 2008-12, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten honors. UWM assistant coach Stacy Cantley served as a Badger assistant from 2001-15..
- TRIPLE DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Three Badgers recorded double-doubles against Winthrop, the first time since 1996 that three UW players tallied double-doubles in the same game. Senior Marsha Howard had 18 points and 14 rebounds; junior Courtney Fredrickson had 14 points and 11 rebounds; and freshman Imani Lewis had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
- NEW JERSEYS:Â Four Badgers saw their first official action in the Cardinal and White. In addition to Lewis, redshirt Kelly Karlis started and scored 10 points. Redshirt freshman Alex Luehring had six points and three rebounds, and freshman Diamond Bragg had two rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
- SCOUTING THE PANTHERS Last season, Milwaukee (21-12 in 2017-18) advanced to the second round of the WNIT and is coming off a near upset against Indiana, falling short, 68-66, in a hard-fought game on Wednesday. Jamie Reit led all players with 21 points to tie her career high. Megan Walstad finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
