Wisconsin boasts another stellar recruiting class for 2019
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's tennis head coach Danny Westerman announced another compelling list of recruits signing off to play at the University of Wisconsin on Wednesday afternoon. Badger signees include seniors Scott Sculley, Gabriel Huber and Robin Parts – all of whom have signed a national letter of intent to play for UW in the fall of 2019.
"We couldn't be more excited to add three very high quality recruits to our roster next season," Westerman said. "Each recruit has played tennis at an extremely high level and will make an immediate impact in our lineup. What really attracted this class was the excellent intersection of academics and athletics we offer here at the University of Wisconsin."
Scott Sculley
6-2, 170
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina (Hilton Head Prep)
A five-star recruit from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Scott Sculley comes to Wisconsin as the No. 64 recruit in the nation and No. 4 recruit in South Carolina according to TennisRecruiting.net. Sculley has put together an overall record of 22-11 in the traveling tennis circuit, posting six wins over other five-star prospects while also touting a dominant 9-1 record over four-star opponents. He put together a decorated prep career at Hilton Head Prep, leading his team to a 2018 SCISA 2A state championship on the backs of an undefeated singles record at the No. 2 spot. Sculley was an Orange Bowl doubles finalist as well as a Winter National doubles finalist in the previous year.
Why Wisconsin?
"I chose Wisconsin because of its great mix of education and athletics. I visited the campus over the summer and knew I didn't want to go anywhere else."
Gabriel Huber
6-0, 165
Innbruck, Austria (Liese Prokop Privatschule)
Gabriel Huber travels a long way from his home as a native from Innbruck, Austria, to arrive at the University of Wisconsin. Huber holds an overall record of 25-20 on the national circuit. Huber is a six-time Austrian singles champion at the U-12 through U-18 levels. He was ranked as high as No. 6 according to Tennis Europe during his tenure at the U-16 level. Huber qualified for the Tennis Europe Masters in Italy and climbed as high as No. 242 in the ITF junior rankings. Huber touts a Universal Tennis Rating that has peaked at 13.53.
Why Wisconsin?
"I chose Wisconsin because I've heard very good things about the University. I believe that I'll get the perfect education while factoring in athletics, which is a requirement for success in the future."
Robin Parts
5-11, 160
Tallinn, Estonia (Audentes Sports Gymnasium)
A native of Tallinn, Estonia, Robin Parts now looks to call Madison his home. A highly-touted prospect, Parts claimed the Estonian National Championship at U-12 and U-16 age group in both singles and doubles play. Parts boasted the trifecta at the U-14 level, winning the Estonian National Championship in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Parts tallied a career high ITF ranking of 165. Parts enjoyed a UTR high-ranking of 13.04.
Why Wisconsin?
"I chose Wisconsin because the college has a very high academic standard as well as an elite tennis program. I like the coaches and my future teammates – I believe we will have great chemistry."
