Badgers fall to Wolverines in four sets
MADISON, Wis. – Errors haunted the fifth-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team Sunday afternoon in the UW Field House allowing No. 14 Michigan to come out on top in four sets. The Wolverines took the match 19-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22.
After Wisconsin (16-6 overall, 9-5 B1G) nabbed a convincing first set win, Michigan (19-6, 8-6) came out hard in the second set to even the match. The Badgers built up a six-point lead in the third set before Michigan went on a seven-point scoring run to clinch the set. The final frame was a back-and-fourth battle, with 12 score ties and four lead changes, but again the Wolverines prevailed to take the match in four sets.
The Badgers hit .214 (57 kills – 24 errors – 154 attempts) for the match compared to Michigan's .222 (53-21-144). Sophomore Dana Rettke and junior Madison Duello paced the UW offense with 17 and 16 kills, respectively.
Wisconsin was dominant at the net, earning a 15-7 blocking advantage thanks to Rettke's 10 stuffs.
Behind the service line, sophomore Sydney Hilley forced UW's three aces. She recorded two in a row during the first set to force a Michigan timeout.
Libero Tiffany Clark collected a team-high 18 digs while outside hitter Grace Loberg added 15 more but Michigan had a slight 64-63 advantage in the backcourt.

Notes to know
- Redshirt junior Madison Duello recorded a career-high 16 kills.
- Middle blocker Dana Rettke tallied her second double-double of the season with 17 kills and 10 blocks.
- Redshirt freshman Mariah Whalen earned her first kill since September 1, 2017.
