Happ makes history in season debut

Senior Ethan Happ records second triple-double in school history in 85-63 win

MADISON, Wis. -- On the strength of a triple-double from senior Ethan Happ, Wisconsin cruised to an 85-63 season-opening win over Coppin State Tuesday night at the Kohl Center.

Happ tallied just the second triple-double in school history by posting 10 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 12 assists.

D'Mitrik Trice led UW with a career-high 21 points (5-9 3 FGs) and junior Brevin Pritzl finished with 16 points on the night.

Happ didn't score a basket until the 10:48 mark of the first half. Happ faced double teams nearly every time he touched the ball.

Pritzl capped a 20-2 Badgers run with a 3-pointer that gave Wisconsin a 26-13 lead with 9:37 to go in the first half.

Wisconsin plays Xavier in the Gavitt Tipoff Games in Cincinnati on Nov. 13. The Musketeers upended the Badgers 80-70 in the tournament last season.
