Three freshmen set to redshirt 2018-19 season

Currie, Hedstrom and Higginbottom announce intentions
MADISON, Wis. – Freshmen Taylor Currie, Joe Hedstrom and Carter Higginbottom announced on Tuesday their intentions to redshirt the 2018-19 season for the Wisconsin men's basketball team.
A native of Clarkston, Michigan, Currie was a two-time Class A Michigan State champion at Clarkston High School and finished his prep career with a record of 53-2. Currie graduated early and reclassified into the class of 2018 after his junior season, earning first-team Class A and All-County honors in 2018 after averaging 12.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, while tallying a total of 40 blocks and 19 steals.
A 7-foot center from Hopkins, Minnesota, Hedstrom averaged 14.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last season at Hopkins High School, helping the Royals to a record of 26-2 and a final national rank of No. 38. A Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association All-Star, Hedstrom averaged 8.5 points per game as a junior and averaged 12.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game with his AAU team the Minnesota Comets in 2017.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Higginbottom was a two-time All-Catholic League selection at St. Ignatius High School. He was a two-year team captain and averaged 12.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.2 steals per game as a senior.
