MADISON, Wis. – The sixth-seeded Wisconsin volleyball team continues to dance this weekend with NCAA regional play at Huff Hall in Champaign, Illinois. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. following the first regional semifinal game between No. 3 Illinois and No. 15 Marquette.
Fans traveling to Champaign can attend the pre-match rally at Legends Bar starting at 11 a.m. The event will feature appearances from Bucky Badger and the UW band, along with tons of giveaways.
1. THANK U, NEXT: The Badgers earned convincing first and second round wins last weekend, sweeping Green Bay and taking down Pepperdine in four sets in front of their home crowd.
2. QUEENS OF THE NORTHEAST: Five players were named AVCA All-Northeast Region on Tuesday. Sophomores Dana Rettke and Sydney Hilley along with redshirt junior Madison Duello were named to the all-region team, while junior Tiffany Clark and senior Tionna Williams earned honorable mention recognition. All five players will now be eligible for AVCA All-America honors, which will be announced on Dec. 12.
3. CONTINUED EXCELLENCE: Wisconsin is one of five teams to advance to the Sweet 16 for the last six consecutive years. The Badgers are among an elite list that includes BYU, Nebraska, Texas and Penn State.
4. TICKETS PLEASE: General admission all-session ticket packages are on sale now and include a ticket for all Regional matches. All single-session tickets go on sale on Thursday (Dec. 6) at 9 a.m. All tickets must be purchased through the Illinois Ticket Office.
5. SCOUTING SAN DIEGO: The Toreros are appearing in their fourth Sweet 16 after sweeping and upsetting 11th-seeded Southern California in the second round. San Diego is 18-12 this season with ranked wins over No. 12 Baylor, No. 13 Cal Poly and No. 17 USC. The Toreros have a balanced offense with four players averaging two or more kills per set. Senior Addie Picha, an AVCA Pacific South All-Region honoree, leads San Diego with a .388 attack percentage and averages 1.50 blocks per set.
