PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — 2017 Patty Kazmamier Memorial Award winner Ann-Renee Desbiens made the most of her Olympic debut to lead the Wisconsin women's hockey contingent at the 2018 Winter Olympics.Â
Desbiens stopped all 18 shots she faced on Sunday to lead Canada to a 5-0 win over the Olympic Athletes of Russia, the first game for both teams at this year's Olympic Games.Â

Emily Clark, along with former UW standouts Meaghan Mikkelson, Sarah Nurse and Blayre Turnbull all saw playing time as Canada began its quest for a fifth-straight Olympic gold medal. Clark had two shots on goal while Turnbull and Mikkelson had one each.
Canada takes on Finland at 1:40 a.m. CT on Tuesday, a game that can be seen live on NBCSN.
United States 3, Finland 1
Former UW standouts Hilary Knight and Brianna Decker each picked up assists on Kendall Coyne's game-winning goal in Team USA's 3-1 win over Finland.
Coyne's game-winning goal came on the power play as Knight passed up a great scoring opportunity on former Minnesota netminder Noora Raty and passed the puck to Coyne, who slammed the puck home.Â
"You want to start the tournament with a win," Knight said after the game. "You want to win every single game in the tournament. That's just our level of competitiveness. Finland is a really good team."
Former Badger captain Meghan Duggan, the captain of this year's Team USA squad, picked up a shot on goal and an important blocked shot while the U.S. was on the PK late in the third frame.
UW all-time wins leader Alex Rigsby served as the backup goaltender in the game.Â
