MADISON, Wis.- It was a big day for the Wisconsin women's track and field team as they welcomed visitors to their first home meet of the season while simultaneously rounding out regular season competition at the Shell Shocker.

The Badgers executed perfectly and took home a win beating out Northern Iowa and Marquette in a double dual with 126 points on the day.

The highlight of the meet came from
Banke Oginni who threw a bomb in the shot put of 55 feet 5 1/2 inches (16.90m) to earn the win and crush her previous personal record by over three feet. That throw ranks No. 2 in school history behind Olympian Kelsey Card and No. 2 in the Big Ten Conference.Â
Oginni also took home the title in the weight throw with another personal record of 71-10 1/4 (21.90m).

Teammate
Sophia Rivera was runner up in the shot put with personal record as well. The redshirt freshman hurled the shot 54 1/2 (16.47m) to seal the 1-2 finishes in the event. Josie Schaefer competed unattached and had the fourth best throw in the event of 50-10 (15.49m). In the weight throw,
Haley Showalter earned third place with a throw of 61-7 1/2 (18.78m).

Another highlight came on the track in the 60 meter hurdles where
Georgia Ellenwood,
Casie Pawlik and
Phoebe Edwards swept the race with a 1-2-3 finish. Ellenwood finished in 8.53 seconds just .01 seconds shy of her personal record. Pawlik finished in 8.90 followed by Edwards in 9.03.

In the 60 meters, Hannah Wilson stole the show finishing in first with a time of 7.70, a new record for the freshman.
Mary Bartelson finished fourth in the event with a time of 8.05. Wilson also took home the crown in the 200 meters with a time of 25.76.

Back on the field, the Badgers swept the horizontal jumps with Chinne Okoronkwo and
Meagan Blair leading the way. Okoronkwo won the triple jump with the help of some encouragement from the crowd. The sophomore's mark of 41 feet 6 inches (12.64m) is her best of the season.
Meagan Blair finished second in the event with a mark of 38-9 3/4 (11.83m) and also won the long jump with a mark of 18-4 1/2 (5.60m).
Mary Bartelson got second in the long jump with a mark of 18-2 1/4 (5.54m).

Pole-vaulter
Taylor Amann took home her tenth win in a row on her home turf. The senior cleared 13-3 3/4 (4.06m) to secure her victory and then went on to narrowly miss the 14 foot mark on her final attempt, what would have been a new school and personal record.

The distance runners left it all on the floor of the Shell taking home a number of top finishes and personal records.
Katie Hietpas lead the way in the 3000 meters with a time of 10 minutes 17.72 seconds,Â

Liz Bohn and Devan Montgomery claimed another 1-2 finish in the 800 meters. Bohn finished in 2:15.20 followed closely by Montgomery who finished in 2:18.16.Â

In the mile run, Megan Olshanski ran unattached but went home with the second fastest time in the event of 5:11.30.
Lianna Mack finished fourth with a time of 5:19.59.

Another personal record was earned in the 600 meter by freshman Bianca Stubler who finished the race with a time of 1:33.73. Fellow sprinter
Haley Lubow finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 58.61.

In the high jump the Badgers stayed consistent with four Badgers clearing the bar at 5-3 3/4 (1.62m). Isabella Weekly tied for fifth in the event after clearing on her first try and
Phoebe Edwards, Brooke Blazei, and
Emma Fitzgerald all tied for eight after missing the bar once before clearing.

The Badgers will be back in action next weekend for indoor championship season. The 2018 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio and will start Friday at 9 a.m. (CT).
