Badgers visit South Carolina for second time this March
MADISON, Wis. —  The Wisconsin men's golf team heads to Awendaw, South Carolina to compete at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, March 25-27, in the Badgers' second event in South Carolina this spring.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:
1. Last Time Out: The Badgers struggled in the first two rounds against tough weather conditions in their first visit to South Carolina at the Colleton River Collegiate last week. Wisconsin rallied on the final day to finish the 54-hole event seventh out of 12 teams.
2. Bulls Bay: The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate will be hosted at the Bulls Bay Golf Club, located in Awendaw, S.C. on the Atlantic coastline. The course is a few miles off the Atlantic Ocean and features low country coastline of sandy turf, windswept savannahs and greens alongside centuries old oak forests.Â
3. The Lineup: The Badgers will travel freshman Sam Anderson, freshman Griffin Barela, sophomore Pete Kuhl, junior Jordan Hahn and senior Eddie Wajda.
4. Spring Break Opposition:Â The Badgers will face Auburn, College of Charleston, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Iowa State, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri, NC State, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Wofford.
5. Thoughts from Coach Burcin: "The guys are ready to start this spring break trip. It's always a highlight for the program. This year we play two events on the front and back ends of break, so it will be a good test for the team. Â This group is so enjoyable to travel with and they enjoy each other so much that we are all looking forward to getting started."
"Bulls Bay will be a great event and against a great field. Â The golf course is unlike anything we see all year, near the water in Charleston, and it is a lot of fun to play. Â This is definitely the best I have felt going into this event, with this group, since we began going to this event. Our guys have the ability to go low and our roster has a lot of depth."
"They are expecting to play well. Â Every kid felt that we didn't bring our best golf last time and that says a lot about these kids and where they have pushed this program to where mediocre isn't acceptable anymore."
