Badgers visit Big Ten foe before conference championships
MADISON, Wis. --  The Wisconsin men's golf team travels to West Lafayette, Indiana to compete at the Boilermaker Invitational, April 14-15, in the Badgers' final event before the Big Ten Championships.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:

1. Last Time Out: Led by a first place finish from freshman Griffin Barela, the Badgers placed second as a team at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Illinois. Barela is the first Wisconsin men's golfer since 2009 to win a tournament.

2. Boiler Down: UW travels to West Lafayette, Indiana for the Boilermaker Invitational hosted by Big Ten rival Purdue. 2018 marks the 15th anniversary of the invitational and will be played on Purdue's Kampen Course on the university campus. The course is a product of famous golf course architect Pete Dye and has played host to numerous Big Ten and NCAA Championships.

3. The Lineup: Barela will be joined by senior Eddie Wajda, junior Jordan Hahn, sophomores Pete Kuhl and Nick Robinson in the Badgers' lineup this weekend. Freshman Sam Anderson will play as an individual.

4. The Competition: Wisconsin will face No. 31 Kent State, No. 37 Northwestern, No. 39 Purdue, UCF, Ohio State, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Cincinnati, Indiana, Toledo, UT Arlington, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, Northern Illinois, Wichita State, and Xavier.

5. Thoughts from Coach Burcin:
"The kids are excited to continue the momentum this week to one of the best tests of golf in the Midwest at Kampen.
"I am so happy for these guys and what they have done this spring. Tough fields, brutal weather, and they have knocked off some of the perennial powers in college golf. We will continue to preach believing in oneself and each other and trusting all the work they have put in. It will be another great challenge and we know they will rise to the occasion and continue towards our season long goals."
