MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin softball team dropped a close game to Purdue, 3-2, Friday night at Goodman Diamond.

Wisconsin (20-17 overall, 4-6 B1G) collected six hits while Purdue (13-32, 4-8) had seven hits.

The Badgers were unable to capitalize early on but hit a groove in the bottom of the sixth inning. Stephanie Lombardo got the Badgers on the board with a solo home run to center field. In the next at-bat freshman Lauren Foster stepped up to the plate and hit a homer of her own to close the gap and put Wisconsin back in the game.

The Boilermakers scored two early runs in the first inning and added a third in the top of the fifth. Â

Notes to know
-Freshman Lauren Foster hit her first home run as a Badger and extended her reached-base streak to 13 games.
-Stephanie Lombardo homered in back-to-back games and is now tied for second on the team with four goners this season.
-Foster notched a team-high two hits against the Boilermakers.
-Senior Kelsey Jenkins doubled in the third inning for a 10-game hitting streak.
