MINNEAPOLIS – The Wisconsin softball team (22-19 overall, 6-8 Big Ten) dropped both games of its doubleheader with Minnesota (29-14,12-3). UW fell 12-1 in the first game and 8-0 in the second contest.
Game one:
The Gophers jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, first getting on the board with a three-run homer from Sydney Dwyer and a grand slam from MaKenna Partain. Minnesota added one more run in the bottom of the second via an RBI double down the right-field line from Velazquez.
Minnesota pitcher Amber Fiser was dealing with six strikeouts in the game and had a no-hitter going until senior Kelsey Jenkins broke that up with the Badgers' lone hit of the game. It was the only hit, but it was a good one, as Jenkins hit a solo homer over the center field wall.
Dwyer struck again in the bottom of the third, singling up the middle and scoring Maddie Houlihan. UM added two final runs in the bottom of the fourth after Danielle Parlich tripled to bring in Dani Wagner and Erika Rozell hit a sac fly to score Parlich.
Game two:
The Badgers held the Gophers scoreless in the first inning but the Gophers got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning, putting in two runs and taking the lead with the first four hits of the game.

Kelly Welsh broke up the no-hitter in the second game with a single to the shortstop in the top of the sixth.
