MADISON, Wis. – After a long stretch of competition in California last week, the Wisconsin women's track and field team is heading south to compete in the National Relays in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Fans can follow Badger action on Twitter (@BadgerTrackXC) for live updates and follow up on UWBadgers.com for a post-meet recap.

1. LOOKING BACK: Three Badgers picked up top finishes over the weekend in California. Taylor Amann became only the second Badger to clear the 14-0 bar in the pole vault. This mark earned her the gold finish as well as the No.1 mark in the Big Ten. Georgia Ellenwood also picked up a win in the heptathlon, where her score of 5,983 points broke her own UW record. Her score was the top score in the NCAA last week and broke her own school record in the event. In addition, Ellenwood's score puts her No. 4 in the world this year. In the discus, Hanna Barton finished No. 1 with a throw of 168-8. The junior holds the No. 3 throw in school history behind only Olympian Kelsey Card and All-American Taylor Smith.

2. BUCKY DOWN SOUTH: Field events will start the action for UW on Friday with the women's hammer throw kicking it off, while field events will begin around 3:00 p.m. On Saturday the men's hammer throw will start at 10:45 a.m. On the track, a handful of relays will run beginning around 7:00 p.m.

3. RANKINGS: The Wisconsin women's track and field team currently ranks fourth in the great lakes region after their successful weekend in California. The Wisconsin women's track and field team also currently has six Badgers that rank in the top-5 in the Big Ten across six different events.

4. BUCKINGHAMS BONUS: The 10th annual Buckingham's award show took place this week and track and field Badgers had a lot of success on the stage. Junior Amy Davis took home one of the highest honors of Student Athlete of the Year. Two track athletes, Georgia Ellenwood and Josh McDonald also swept the Big Ten Medal of Honor category while the men's and women's teams also swept the Large Team Highest Cumulative GPA Award category.

5. SPRING IT ON: The weather is turning around just in time for action in Madison. After the National Relays the Badgers will return home to round out the regular season at the McClimon Track Complex for the 2018 Wisconsin Twilight.
