Hamilton and Higginbottom join roster for 2018-19 season
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's basketball coach Greg Gard announced the addition of a pair of walk-ons to the Badgers roster for the 2018-19 season, welcoming Owen Hamilton and Carter Higginbottom. Hamilton will redshirt the upcoming season after transferring from Northern Illinois and will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in the 2019-20 season.
Owen Hamilton

Prescott, Wis. (Prescott HS)
Hamilton joins the Badgers after appearing in 27 games as a true freshman at Northern Illinois last season. A native of Prescott, Wisconsin, Hamilton averaged 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds in 6.8 minutes per game for the Huskies.
As a prep at Prescott High School, Hamilton was a 2017 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Division 3 All-State selection as a senior, leading the Cardinals to a 24-4 record and a runner-up finish in Division 3 as a senior in 2016-17. He averaged 25.1 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game and was named the Player of the Year in the Middle Border Conference.
Carter Higginbottom

Chicago, Ill. (St. Ignatius HS)
As a prep at St. Ignatius High School, Higginbottom was twice selected for All-Catholic League honors. A two-time captain, Higginbottom averaged 12.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.2 steals as a senior.
Higginbottom's father, Elzie, was an All-American runner at Wisconsin (1960-65), placing fifth in the 440-yard dash at the 1963 NCAA Outdoor Championships. He was also a three-time Big Ten champion, winning the 440 and anchoring the mile relay to a conference title in 1962.
