MADISON, Wis. – Continuing a great Wisconsin rowing tradition, a trio of Badger women's rowers were named to the roster for the 2018 U.S. Under 23 National Team and the 2018 team from France that will race at the
2018 World Rowing Under 23 Championships from July 25-29 in Poznan, Poland.
Senior-to-be openweight rower
Niamh Martin, a Seattle native, will be joined by fellow Badger lightweight rower
Grace Joyce, a Northfield, Illinois native, on the U.S. squad. Recently graduated
Agathe Denis, who grew up in Austin, Texas, but who has family connections overseas, will compete for France.
Martin will race in the straight women's four, while Joyce is set to complete in the lightweight quadruple sculls. Denis is set to race in the women's single sculls.
Martin spent the 2018 season as a member of UW's varsity eight, helping the boat place 15th at the 2018 NCAA Rowing Championships.
Joyce spent her first two seasons at UW in the lightweight eight. The boat finished third at Eastern Sprints and seventh at the Intercollegiate Rowing (IRA) national championships this past season.
Denis owns a pair of fourth-place lightweight eight finishes at the IRAs in 2016 and 2017, as well as a seventh-place result this past spring.
