Wisconsin men’s rowing welcomes 14 to the Class of 2022
August 30, 2018 | Men's Rowing
The next generation of Badger rowers officially arrive on campus on Sept 5
MADISON, Wis. – Chris Clark, head men's rowing coach, announced on Thursday the 14 student-athletes who will join the Wisconsin men's rowing program when school starts on Sept. 5
"We are excited to welcome the Class of 2022 to Madison," Clark said. "Throughout the recruiting process, these 14 young men have all shown they have the right athletic foundation to take on the challenge of collegiate rowing."
The 14 recruits come from eight states including Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Kansas, Maryland, North Carolina, Georgia and Washington.
"To be a successful oarsman at this level you have to have a little something extra beyond being physically powerful that pushes you to attack the next stroke. It can be a variety or combination of qualities: mental toughness, heart, competitive spirit, or grit are good examples. It's less important which it is, but you have to have something – the sport demands it. Each one has exhibited an "x-factor" that sets them apart from your average high school prospect that lead us to believe they would be an excellent fit here at Wisconsin. We are looking forward to seeing what they can achieve combined with the walk-ons from this fall's open houses."
