Badgers take first road trip across state lines
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's golf team takes its first road trip of the fall season to Sugar Grove, Illinois, Sept. 15-16 for the Northern Intercollegiate hosted by Northern Illinois University.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers cross state lines:
1. Last Time Out: Senior Jordan Hahn shot an even par 216 to earn a share of 11th place at the season-opening Badger Invitational. As a team, Wisconsin placed 10th with a 54-hole total of 895 (+31).
2. Illinois Road Trip: Wisconsin will play in a 54-hole tournament on the par 72, 7,281-yard course at Rich Harvest Farms. The course is just 19 years old and has been previously named one of Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses. Rich Harvest Farms also played host to the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's National Championships.
3. The Lineup: Hahn, fellow senior Brett Robinson, junior Pete Kuhl, sophomore Griffin Barela and sophomore Sam Anderson. Sophomore Tom Calbi will compete as an individual.
4. The Competition: Wisconsin will face Augusta, Aurora, Coastal Carolina, Grand Canyon, Marquette, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Toledo, UMKC, and NIU. UCLA will have individuals compete, but will not be in the team standings
5. Thoughts from Coach Burcin:
"I think it's a big week for our guys to play loose. In the meetings we all thought we were too tight at the Badger (Badger Invitational), and we need to just play loose the rest of this season."
"We have the talent to be a really successful team. We just need to stay focused on our objectives and play relaxed this week, and every week this season. "
