Ann Arbor, MI. – The Wisconsin women's golf team defeated No. 6 seed Texas A&M, 3-2, in dramatic fashion to win their second round matchup at the East-West Match Play Challenge in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The eighth-seeded Badgers saved their best play for the final day, and the final stroke of the matchup. Freshman
Gabrielle Tomeo was even with Texas A&M's Brooke Tyree heading into the 18
th hole. Tomeo went on to sink a clutch 18-foot putt for birdie on the 18
th green to give Wisconsin the head-to head victory over the Aggies.
Wisconsin also got winning support from senior
Jessica Reinecke, who beat Amber Park, 2&1, and freshman
Tracy Lee, who defeated Ava Schwienteck, 3&2.
As a team, Wisconsin finished in seventh place.
Up Next: The Badgers have a 10-day break before traveling to Norman, Oklahoma for the Schooner Fall Classic, Sept. 28 at the Belmar Golf Club.
