SEATTLE – Capping off a two-game sequence in Seattle, the Wisconsin women's soccer team knocked off Portland University, 2-1, at a neutral site on Sunday afternoon.
Breaking open the scoring for Wisconsin was sophomore forward
Cameron Murtha in the ninth minute. Murtha's goal was assisted by junior
Dani Rhodes and junior
Grace Douglas; both players' first assist of the season.
Widening Wisconsin's lead even further was sophomore
Maia Cella, taking a ball from junior
Camryn Biegalski and getting a head on it to knock it in the back of the net. It was Biegalski's first assist of the season and Cella's first goal of 2018.
The Badgers attacked early and often in the first half giving
Lauren Rice seven corner opportunities compared to Portland's one.
Overall, the Badgers outshot the Pilots eight to seven and had the corner kick advantage, 10-2.
Wisconsin keeper
Jordyn Bloomer faced four shots on goal, ending up with three saves. The Badgers return home with a 2-0 weekend in their backpocket.
