No. 7 Badgers host premier cross country meet on Friday
MADISON, Wis. – The No. 7 Wisconsin women's cross country team will compete in their second meet of the season, Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Presented by Under Armour, at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course on Friday.
The meet is scheduled to begin with the women's "B" 6K race at 11:00 a.m. (CT) with the men's "B" 8K race to follow at 11:40 a.m. The women's championship 6K is slated to begin at 12:20 p.m. and the men's championship 8K will follow at 1:00 p.m.
There is no spectator parking at the cross country course or University Ridge. Spectator parking will be located at Blackhawk Church in Middleton, Wisconsin.
Spectator shuttles are available to transport spectators for $5 round trip. Accessible shuttles will be available. The shuttle service will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude one hour after the final race has finished. The shuttle will pick up and drop off at the upper level of the parking structure at Blackhawk Church.

1. MILLER'S MONTAGE: Jill Miller was officially named the head coach of the Wisconsin women's cross country team. Miller is in her fifth season with the Badgers. Last season, she led the cross country team to their second-straight NCAA Championship appearance with a top-10 finish while Sarah Disanza earned All-America honors in her final race for the Cardinal and White. Â
2. NINTH AT THE NUTTY: Last year the Badgers took ninth place in the Nuttycombe Invitational, thanks to a 19th place finish by Alicia Monson. Amy Davis took 47th at the meet and finished second for the Badgers. Shaelyn Sorensen, Alissa Niggemann, Sarah Disanza all finished in the top 100. UW's ninth-place showing tied the program's best finish at the prestigious meet.
3. BADGER CLASSIC CHAMPS: The last time the Wisconsin women's cross country team took the course was for the Badger Classic on Sept. 14 as UW opened its season with a victory against Northwestern and Marquette. Â Alicia Monson won the meet with a time of 21:07.1 followed by Shaelyn Sorenson and Amy Davis, who took third and fourth respectively.
4. RUNNERS THAT RANK: Heading into the Nuttycombe, the Badgers find themselves ranked in the top-10 of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Coaches' Poll following the Badger Classic. UW has held steady at the No. 7 spot in the poll while the Badgers also still hold the No. 1 spot in the Great Lakes Region.
5. PREPPING FOR PRE-NATS: The Badgers will compete again on October 13th when they host Pre-Nationals. The meet is set to kick off at 10:00 a.m. with the women's 6K at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course. The Badger women will compete against 87 other teams before competing in the Big Ten Championship.
